BMC obtains further advertising space at Beijing airport for Coca-Cola

Jul 17, 2008

Stuttgart/Beijing, July 17, 2008 – BMC Flying Dragon, the airport advertising company of the Business Media China AG, obtained further advertising space in the new terminal 3 at Beijing airport for their customer, Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola installed a mini bird-nest-stadium in the arrival hall with Chinese top athletes as testimonials.

Terminal 3 (T3) of the Beijing airport, which opened this March continues to draw more customers than available advertising space Since all of the media formats of the BMC Flying Dragon in terminal 3 were booked after the beginning of the second quarter – mainly with long term contracts – additional formats were searched for and found together with the airport authorities. Coca-Cola, inspired by the success of the interactive Samsung advertising platform in T3, signed a contract for a new, innovative media format in the arrival hall of T3 during the 3 month Olympia period.

For the world brand number 1, Coca-Cola, the Olympic Stadium was replicated (also called “The Bird-Nest”) with a diameter of 4,20 meters and a height of 1,35. The stadium was flanked by both Coke testimonials and Chinese top athletes Yao Ming (six fold NBA All-Star) and Liu Xiang (World champion 110m hurdles at the World Championship 2007).

BMC Flying Dragon further attempts to continuously initiate media formats or to lease other licensees in order to meet the high demand. As was already realised in terminal 2, BMC Flying Dragon also established a business center in T3. Advertising space (light boxes, screen savers etc.) has already been booked on a long term basis by China Mobile. The business center also gives advertising customers the possibility to use the space as an own airport company lounge for special events or for guests.

With their own advertising media in or on 14 of the largest airports in China and the marketing access to various further advertising spaces in other airports, BMC Flying Dragon is currently one of the leading area-wide providers of airport formats in China.

Beijing Capital International Airport in the most important and largest international airport in China and, since 2004, generates the highest traffic volume in all Asia. Terminal 3, which opened on February 29, 2008, is the main basis for Air China and the entire Star Alliance, including Lufthansa as well as for the Oneworld Alliance (American Airlines, British Airways etc.). All arriving and departing flights of the Olympic Summer Games 2008 will be processed and the VIP’s, atheletes and tourists welcomed in this terminal.
